The Messenger of Allah said, ‘’The best charity is giving water to drink.” (Ahmad)
£37 – Provide one person with access to a solar-powered water well at a school, mosque or community centre in Tharparkar, Pakistan.
This Ramadan, give the best of charities and reap the blessings year after year.
A staggering 41% of deaths - and a fifth of all diseases - in Pakistan are linked to drinking unsafe water. Tharparkar, Sindh experiences some of the most extreme water scarcity in the country. 21 million people in Pakistan don’t have reliable access to clean water and experts predict the country could run out of water by next year.
This Ramadan, we’re working to provide three solar-powered water wells in Tharparkar, in a school, mosque, and community centre, helping a total of 886 people have access to clean water for years to come.
Sadaqah Jariyah
A water well doesn’t just provide the best of charities, it’s a Sadaqah Jariyah that continues to give, and every drop continues to bless the giver for as long as it’s in use. Change the future for an entire community and reap the multiplied blessings of Ramadan, when good deeds are rewarded many times over.
Your water gives life this Ramadan
When families don’t have clean water, it doesn’t just mean they can’t drink, it also means they can’t grow vegetables to eat, or care for their animals, or stay clean. In drought-hit Tharparakar, sustainable clean water creates the opportunities for jobs, frees up time to allow mothers to earn a living and children to go to school.
With your help, we want to support some of the most vulnerable villages in Tharparkar, where current water sources are unsafe, contaminated, or very far away. 650 people will have direct nearby access to these facilities, and another 236 will be able to access the clean water pumps at a short distance.
Our project will be overseen by water and field engineers and a site supervisor, ensuring that the water pumps are installed sustainably in areas where groundwater is safe and accessible in the long term, ensuring that your charity provides clean water year after year. We also train a village committee on the day-to-day maintenance and financial management of the new solar pumps, as well as on trouble-shooting, repair, and sustainability.
