Emergency Fund - Gaza

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: "Whoever helps his brother in his time of need, Allah will be there in his time of need." (Muslim)

Long before the latest attacks against our brothers and sisters in Gaza, this densely populated enclave of 2 million people was already bearing the weight of a 15-year blockade that restricted travel and access to the simple liberties of daily life. Most affected are the children, with 80% of Palestinian youth battling depression under the constant threat of death, injury, and devastation to their homes and families.

Gaza attacks bring a tragic humanitarian crisis

At the beginning of August 2022, a violent raid in Palestine marked the latest escalation of attacks since May 2021. Days later, air strikes launched against the Gaza Strip claimed two commanders and scores of innocent civilians, with 45 deaths, including 15 children and four women, and 360 injured. Then, fuel transport into Gaza stopped because of closures to roads and crossings. Now, a tenuous ceasefire has taken hold and the difficult of work of rebuilding is underway.

Gaza’s hospitals and medical services are buckling under the strain of a severe fuel shortage, a limited supply of essential drugs, and scarce medical supplies. While the current operation against targets in Gaza lasted a week, it’s left a tragic humanitarian crisis in its wake. Entire homes have been lost and more than 900 have sustained damages, levying an economic cost that is too much for households to bear.

In the midst of a constant onslaught of hardship and destruction, Gaza’s sick and injured must be cared for and families must be sheltered.

As a part of Human Appeal’s urgent response to the current emergency situation in Gaza, in partnership with UNRWA we are providing urgently requested assistance for medical supplies and financial support to cover housing needs.

“Blessed is the wealth of a Muslim from which he gives to the poor, to orphans and to wayfarer.” (Muslim)

Why give with Human Appeal

We’ve been changing lives in Palestine for 30 years. Last year, our projects provided 2,047,971 people with food, medicine, and clean water. Our recent work includes disinfecting the entire water network that supplies 2.1 million people in Gaza. Currently, we’re building a new desalination plant, due for completion in 2023, providing drinking water to an additional 60,000 people. And we continue to address the critical medical crisis by providing tens of thousands of urgently needed medical supplies.

Donate now to help the people of Gaza. Survivors need immediate assistance to endure the difficult days and nights ahead.
