The deployment journey has 3 important steps

After signing up and deciding upon the country you want to visit, the first step of your journey will be fundraising. Each country has its own fundraising target – please see below. Remember, you have as much time as you need to raise funds. Plus, what’s so unique about a Reach Deployment is that we don’t ask for a registration fee.

Briefing

Whether conflict or climate-related, humanitarian crises zones face the same challenges: a deteriorating infrastructure and lack of access to food, safe water, healthcare, sanitation facilities and shelter. Before you travel, you will receive a full briefing on the humanitarian situation. We’ll cover information such as what to pack, itinerary and flight information, and provide mandatory safeguarding training to protect our beneficiaries. We’ll also answer any questions you may have.

Deployment

This once-in-a-lifetime experience allows you to spend time with the people we support and see, first-hand, the real, tangible difference that humanitarian aid delivery can make, and understand the challenges faced by those living in harsh conditions.

What our Reachers say

Hear from our reachers

"A life changing, eye opening and humbling experience! Everyone has an awareness of what happens in the world but it’s a different awareness when you live in that moment, serve in the conditions our brothers and sisters are living in and engage in their energy. I’d like to thank Zainab and Khalil for making the deployment the way it was, this experience was up there with one of the best times of my life. I cannot recommend doing this enough, to every single person. It’s truly changed my life."

Maimoona Din, Nurse Lecturer

"The deployment was an eye opener. Helped me to increase my understanding of the living condition ands overall challenges which our brothers and sisters in faith as well as humanity face all over the world."

Ibrahim Conteh, Transformation Coach and PT

“Deployment a truly life changing experience. To have the ability to give aid first hand and meet our brothers and sisters we are supporting is something I will encourage every soul I meet to do. I had the opportunity to hear stories from the families who lived in these camps including a mother and an elderly woman who had been in the same situation for 10+ years. Their heart wrenching stories are something I will never forget; they went from having a home, a family, warmth and food to living in a refugee camp with little to nothing. After experiencing my first deployment, I am determined to go on many more in the future inshaAllah.”

Julia Lauren Hawkins, Self-employed & full time student

“Going on a deployment is a life changing experience for many reasons. It’s educational because you realize what’s really happening in some parts of the world, and you realize how disconnected we are from the realities that our brothers and sisters in these camps go through. There was a case study that we attended where we met a woman who was around my mother’s age. She told us how she lost her husband and 3 sons within the space of a year. She’s now living alone in the camps and has been for multiple years. Hearing stories like hers motivates me to push harder in raising funds and awareness.”

Akif Akhtar, Entrepreneur

“Alhamdulillah, this deployment has changed my entire perspective on fundraising and why I do what I do. What I mean is, I have become so passionate about coming up with new ideas to fundraise for our brothers and sisters after seeing their living conditions in person, and the fact that they don't have basic necessities to get them through a day."

Zara Masood, Patient Advisor/Consultant

“I found the deployment life changing, spiritually, mentally and emotionally. It allowed me to truly appreciate my blessings and begin to understand the difficulties that others are going through in another area of the world. I hope to learn from this experience on going on another deployment in the future and sharing the stories I've heard to other people.”

Umar Majeed, Student

“Deployment is a rollercoaster of emotions. You form great friendships and bonds of brotherhood with the people you go with. Physically, emotionally and spiritually, it’s a tough yet fulfilling and enriching experience. We went during Ramadan so found it extra hard at times but Allah adds Barakah in everything we do. Seeing the faces of the people and the moments of happiness in their challenging lives was amazing to see. A great trip that everyone must experience in their life.”

Adiel Choudhry, Civil Servant

"It was the most humbling experience of my life. Not a day goes by where I do not think back to the harsh realities I saw our brothers and sisters living in, the sabr they hold, and the enthusiastic smiles they show despite all their struggles. The team leaders went above and beyond every day. I cannot thank the team enough for providing me with this opportunity. This is why I have made a commitment to immerse myself in charity work for as long as I am able to, may Allah accept all of our efforts, In’Sha’Allah. A final message; be grateful, show gratitude, humble yourselves and think of the end goal as this dunya is temporary. Let’s work towards securing our aakirah together, In’Sha’Allah."

Ammarah Desai, Student

"An unbelievable experience. One to remember for a lifetime."

Omar Hassouneh, Realtor

"I met the most wonderful people who completely changed my perspective in life. Helping out in refugee camps showed a different way of life. The people there had so little, but they had the highest trust in Allah, appreciating what they have. I feel like I have a responsibility to them, to make sure they receive the basic necessities necessary to keep on living, the same things we in the West take for granted."

Iqra Shakour, Student

"A truly memorable and life-changing experience that has created a genuine softness in my heart for those struggling, to the extent that I feel I need to do more. It is a golden opportunity for anyone to step outside of the all-consuming ‘dunya’. It was an opportunity for me to meet and speak to my brothers and sisters in person, to understand their journeys, their challenges, and realize how grateful they are for what little they have. Alhamdullilah, this is a unique program established and managed by some very special people at Human Appeal."

Jamal Ibn Daud, Author/Publisher

"The Ramadan deployment was a truly special and humbling experience for me and I will cherish it forever. Everyone that I spent time with during the deployment inspired me, whether they worked for Human Appeal, were fellow volunteers, or those we helped. It opened my eyes and I am shocked at how our Syrian and Palestinian brothers and sisters are treated. I want to continue to raise funds so I can seize the opportunity Allah gave me to help."
