Achieving the extraordinary together

In 1991, Human Appeal was founded by two volunteers inside a small flat in Manchester. Over three decades later, our work spans the globe, and we’d love for you to become part of this incredible, ongoing legacy.

As a Human Appeal volunteer, you’ll build transferable skills while making a real difference — from our Schools Outreach Programme and award-winning Wrap Up coat drive, to community Challenges, local events, and delivering aid in humanitarian hotspots.

Why volunteer with us?

We value, respect, and appreciate our volunteers, and we want to support their growth and happiness. So, when you volunteer, you'll receive:

Training

A comprehensive onboarding, volunteering handbook and code of conduct — plus help fostering new, transferable skills and beneficial training relevant to your position.

References

Once we've gotten to know your skillset — after you've participated in five activities — we'll happily provide you with a reference.

Travel reimbursement

We'll cover reasonable travel costs to activities in your local area — offsites, seminars, meetups and socials where you'll get to know other volunteers and our projects.

Interview prep

We'll provide you with a mock interview and give you feedback to help you prepare for your future.

Resume review

When you apply for a job, send over your resume and we'll provide you with feedback.

Leadership opportunities

With training and support from Human Appeal staff, you can progress to a leadership role and manage your own team of volunteers.

Flexibility

Depending on the position, you can volunteer as much or as little as you like, so it fits around your other commitments.
