March 25 2026: Global humanitarian nonprofit Human Appeal has launched an emergency response to address the humanitarian crisis stemming from the escalating conflict in Lebanon that has displaced over one million civilians over the past several weeks. The initiative will support life-saving food aid to thousands of families sheltering in Saida, the largest city in the Southern Governorate of Lebanon, who are facing ongoing violence and uncertainty.

The response comes as heavy airstrikes across Southern Lebanon have resulted in a rapidly expanding displacement crisis. Saida has become a primary refuge for those fleeing violence in the region, with thousands of individuals seeking refuge in public schools and other temporary shelters. It is in these overcrowded locations—where families have arrived with nothing—that the need for food, heating, and sanitation is most needed.

Human Appeal is mobilizing to deliver critical food supplies tailored to the needs of fasting families. The initial phase, which is expected to run through May, will distribute 8,585 hot meals and 601 Ready-to-Eat (RTE) food parcels to 930 displaced families, ensuring they have consistent access to nutritious food.

The aid is targeted at families in mass shelters who have fled without their savings and facing disrupted livelihoods, leaving them entirely dependent on humanitarian assistance. The distributed hot meals will include culturally appropriate and nutritious options providing a vital source of comfort and stability amid the chaos. The project aims to prevent hunger, reduce the risk of malnutrition, and mitigate desperate coping strategies as families navigate the crisis.
