Human Appeal is deeply committed to transparency, accountability, and the highest standards of humanitarian service. As a registered, regulated, and independently audited charity, we are humbled by the trust placed in us by our supporters and the communities we serve.
We feel it is important to address recent online rumors and claims relating to an influencer who helped raise funds for Human Appeal USA’s emergency appeals in 2024, and to clarify the facts. As we conduct our internal review of the of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the influencer, we have paused our engagement with Khaled Beydoun to confirm all fees were donated in accordance with the agreement.
First, there have been questions related to our interim 990 form.
We acknowledge that an interim 990 form was filed on behalf of Human Appeal USA that contained errors. Human Appeal USA is reviewing the 990 form in question after it was officially published and errors were noticed by the charity. We noticed that calculations shown on the 990 form are incorrect and will be rectified in cooperation with external auditors, and formally resubmitted, an official process that takes between 1 to 3 months. The individuals responsible for these filings in 2024 are no longer with Human Appeal USA, and we are taking every necessary step to ensure our records are accurate and compliant.
Second, related to our 990, there were questions about commission payments to an influencer with whom we engaged to fundraise for Human Appeal USA.
Human Appeal USA did not pay that influencer a 28% commission as alleged for fundraising and the proper calculations will be reflected in the revised 990 form to be resubmitted. Human Appeal USA signed a formal MOU with the influencer in question, stipulating that their commission fee—which is paid for from unrestricted funding and never earmarked donations—would be donated in full to the Islamophobia Research and Advocacy Center.
All funds raised by Human Appeal USA for humanitarian projects have always been directed to the designated projects intended by the donor with the only deduction being our administrative fee to cover operation costs, a standard cost used across the non-profit industry. Our commitment to our beneficiaries is unwavering, and Human Appeal remains a trusted partner in stewarding all donations to those in need.
Third, there have been claims that Human Appeal USA uses AI-generated content to advance fundraising.
These reckless claims are categorically false and undermine humanitarian relief efforts. Our teams are on the ground every day, and their dedication and sacrifice speak for themselves.
We urge all parties to refrain from spreading misinformation about Human Appeal. We are one of the few charities still operating inside Gaza in the face of enormous challenges.
Human Appeal is recognized by international agencies as one of the leading NGOs operating on the ground in Gaza. Since 2016, we have worked continuously in Gaza across food, medical, WASH, and education sectors. During the current emergency, we have supported the delivery of drinking water and served over 10 million hot meals across Gaza. Our commitment is personal and profound: Our staff are working daily in Gaza, and in 2025, we tragically lost three of our aid workers while they were serving vulnerable communities.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
