What is the Importance of Dua in Ramadan?
The importance of dua in Ramadan can be derived from different verses in the Quran. Dua is a shield against evil, and the Almighty has promised us to answer whenever we call on Him. There is a reason why we call Him Al-Mujeeb—The One who always answers.
So, why should you increase the frequency of your dua in Ramadan?
1. Accepted Dua Since there are blessed moments when our dua is accepted during Ramadan, you can rest assured that you’ll get what your heart desires. According to hadith, the dua of a fasting person is accepted when it’s made close to the time of breaking the fast.
Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
“There are three whose supplication is not rejected: the fasting person when he breaks his fast, the just leader, and the supplication of the oppressed person; Allah raises it up above the clouds and opens the gates of heaven to it. And the Lord says: ‘By My might, I shall surely aid you, even if it should be after a while.’”
2. Worship
Ramadan is a month where Muslims get multiple rewards for performing different acts of worship. Praying to Allah for sustenance, forgiveness, and prosperity is an act of worship. So, making dua is an act of worship within itself which elevates your position during Ramadan.
3. Faith Dua is one of the best ways to express your faith and connect with the Almighty. Getting a secluded area to talk to Allah, telling Him about your worries, and how much trust you have in His plans helps you improve your relationship with Allah. There is no better time to practice your faith with dua than during Ramadan.
4. Forgiveness of Sins
During Ramadan, it’s encouraged to let go of consistent sins and embrace a sin-free lifestyle. Dua during Ramadan helps you sincerely ask for forgiveness of all sins, both major and minor, and lets you move forward from the past.
5. Rewards
Ramadanis a month where rewards are multiplied, especially during the last ten nights of the month. You get plenty of rewards for staying up late praying, performing charity, and other acts of supplication.
