Have you ever wanted to see some of the oldest photos of Hajj in existence? Courtesy of the Library of Congress, we’ve complied a number of fascinating images of Muzdalifah, Mina and Mount Arafah that are more than 125 years old. They were taken by an Indian physician Abd al-Ghaffār, al-Sayyid who lived in Makka, and they show pilgrims undertaking the journey of a lifetime just as Muslims do today.

Contrast these pictures with images of Muslims making their sacred Hajj journey just last year. Although much has changed, the intention of the pilgrims has stayed the same. Decades have passed but millions of Muslims from around the world are still travelled to Makka to perform the sacred rituals passed down by the Prophet Ibrahim (as).
