Not only has our CEO, Othman Moqbel, has been nominated for the highly prestigious Bond Humanitarian Award, but we're very excited to announce that we've been nominated for three more awards!
Human Appeal has been nominated for Charity of The Year at the British Muslim Awards. Our Director of Fundraising, Naeem Raza, has been nominated for the Civil/Third Sector Category on behalf of Human Appeal and he has also been nominated for The Robert Burns Humanitarian Award 2017.
The Robert Burns Humanitarian Award is a globally respected honour bestowed annually on a group or individual who has shown selflessness and dedication in a bid to save, enrich or improve the lives of others through the protection and promotion of human rights and work to deliver social reform. Named after the Scottish poet Robert Burns, this much sought after humanitarian award applauds the efforts of people who bring hope and inspiration, often in desperate situations and help change lives for the better.
Bond Humanitarian Award nominee Othman Moqbel said: “All of these nominations for our work in 2016 show just what incredible feats we achieved in our 25th anniversary year. We are honoured to be recognised for so many awards and it shows that Human Appeal have transformed into a global name in saving lives”.
Na’eem Raza said of his nomination: “Being nominated for any award is an honour but most importantly a dedication to those I serve; the widows, the orphans, the homeless, the hungry, the thirsty, the war stricken, the destitute, anyone in need, that I have the opportunity to raise awareness of, raise funds for, I am able to do this only because of them."
The fifth annual awards aim to recognise a wide range of achievements, covering various aspects of society, including business, charity, sport, arts, culture and much more.
The black tie ceremony will take place at the Athena Hotel in Leicester on Wednesday 25th January.
The evening will be a celebration of success, and will also reflect upon the significant role of Britain’s Muslims in society.
Irfan Younis event organisers of Oceanic Consulting said: “We are humbled and honoured by the support from the public who have voted in their thousands, resulting in an impressive list of finalists. The awards aim to celebrate individuals and companies that contribute in making a better Great Britain.”
