Morocco's Earthquake Communities Are Still Waiting for Help
In 2023, a 6.8 magnitude earthquake tore through the remote mountain communities of Morocco's Atlas region, killing over 3,000 people and leaving thousands without homes, food, or warmth. The acute emergency is over. But for families rebuilding in isolated stone villages where winters bring sub-zero temperatures and heavy snow cuts villages off entirely, the recovery is slow, quiet, and largely unseen.
Human Appeal is one of the only international organizations with permission to operate in this specific region. Through a local partner of six years, we are delivering food, hygiene supplies, school kits, blankets, and hot meals directly to families who have very few other organizations showing up for them.
