Ramadan Reflection #14: Disrespecting the Prophet

Respecting the Prophet (SAW) – The etiquette of addressing him properly.

Al-Aqra' ibn Habis, a man known for his harshness, once called out to the Prophet (SAW) in a disrespectful manner, saying, "O Muhammad, come out to us, for if I praise you, it's good for you, and my blame is bad for you." This rude manner of addressing the Prophet (SAW) was inappropriate. The Prophet (SAW) responded that it is Allah who elevates with speech and who has authority over blame. Allah then revealed verses about the disrespectful nature of calling the Prophet (SAW) in such a way and emphasized patience as better.
