What’s different about this fund?
Each week, communities across the world face a new crisis to deal with. Most don’t make the headlines. In the last year alone, our Emergency Fund has saved lives by responding to the war in Ukraine, the escalation in Gaza, and malnutrition and drought in Somalia, and winter flooding in Syria.
How our Emergency Fund has saved lives
Sadly, many communities are already dealing with major crises when they are hit by another.
In Somalia, after three seasons of no rain, hunger levels are at their worst for 30 years, with 350,000 children at risk of starvation.
How our Emergency Fund is helping: Before a single pound was donated to our Somalia Emergency Appeal, we began distributing nutritious food parcels, malnutrition treatment and shelter, as well as delivering clean water to last a month to communities. The fund allowed us to react swiftly to rising malnutrition and famine-like conditions, without waiting for donations to come through.
In Gaza, families struggling with the blockade, marginalization, and unable to properly access education, healthcare, and jobs, are frequently hit by devastating escalations. Last May, during 15 days of bombings, 278 people died, and over 9,000 were injured. More than 77,000 people had to flee their homes, around 30 clinics and hospitals were damaged, and Gaza’s only COVID-19 test centre was destroyed.
How our Emergency Fund has helped: We provided 18,000 families with food vouchers, we hired people to clear rubble from the street, providing them with jobs and helping the community to recover, and we provided medical supplies and 25,000 litres of fuel to hospitals and clinics in Gaza, helping 15,443 people.
In Yemen, communities that are starving were hit by flash floods.
How our Emergency Fund has helped: We provided shelter, hygiene kits, and clean water, in addition to our other Yemen Appeal activities.
We have 30 years of experience in responding to emergencies all over the globe.
To be there, whenever and wherever a disaster strikes, we urgently need more donations to our Emergency Fund. In every emergency, it’s always the most vulnerable – children, older people, those already struggling for food – who suffer the most.
Charity is a blessing – for those who receive it, and for those who give too. It offers protection from calamity, no matter how little you can afford to give.
As our brothers and sisters across the world face a scale of crisis that we’ve never seen before, be a mercy to the Ummah. Donate to our Emergency Fund appeal and reap the reward of helping us to act swiftly to save lives in emergencies.
We react
When disaster strikes, Human Appeal is one of the few humanitarian organisations able to rapidly access some of the world’s most hard-to-reach communities.
Even when emergencies are overlooked in the news and by other charities – meaning it can be hard to raise funds – our Global Emergency Fund enables us to react within 72 hours, so we can provide people with the essentials they need to survive, even when public awareness about their hardship is low.
We restore
When the emergency is over and long after TV cameras have left, Human Appeal remains on the ground to support those impacted by disaster.
As well as helping to prepare for emergencies, our Global Emergency Fund helps us to rebuild lives and communities after a crisis. From providing shelter and safe water to vital healthcare assistance, we are there to rebuild communities and help vulnerable families to begin to recover.
We reinforce
The impact of a disaster is felt for weeks, months and even years.
By supplying the vital tools and resources vulnerable communities need to rebuild their resilience, we can help ensure their future safety. We empower communities so that they can take ownership of their own futures - from helping them to build sustainable safe water systems to providing resilience livelihood training, we are there to transform and empower futures through our Global Emergency Fund.
Changing lives for 30 years
For 30 years, thanks to our supporters, Human Appeal has been helping people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are.
We react within hours and are proud of our teams who risk their lives to provide food, clean water, shelter, and medical aid for those trapped in a conflict or disaster situation. We also help vulnerable families to withstand and overcome crises in their communities, enabling them to recover and remain resilient to future disasters.
Last year alone, thanks to generous supporters like you, we helped 3,782,785 people, including over 2 million Palestinians, over 400,000 Yemenis and 10,000 people here in the UK, thanks to your support.
