Best Du'as for the Last Ten Nights

By Musa Bukhari

Life can be overwhelming. We are constantly tested and sometimes we feel as though we are pushed to our limits and we feel as though we are drowning in the abyss of dunya. Sometimes all you want is a life jacket. A superpower. A tool to help you as the Ocean of this worldly life roars. But there is hope. There is always hope. Sometimes hope comes in the form of people. Sometimes they come in the form of words. Words are powerful because they can often cut deeper than a knife but in the same stroke they can offer comfort to the heart that aches. One of the greatest gifts we have been given in this life is du’a. It is your life jacket in the vastness of uncertainty and fear. Use it and you will be met with redemption.

“Du'a is worship. Your Lord said: call on Me and I’ll answer you.” [Abu Dawud]

Below I have compiled a list of du’as that can aide in during the last 10 nights of Ramadan. These du’as are powerful because they are from the Qur'an and authentic Sunnah. I have compiled a list of categories to aide you in each facet of your life. Recite them with conviction and always do your part and feel your heart expand inshaAllah.

1. Du’a for parents

‘Rabbana ighfir lee waliwalidayya walilmumineena yawma yaqoomu alhisab.’

“Our Lord, forgive me and my parents and the believers the Day the account is established.” [Qur’an: Chapter 14, Verse 41]

2. Du'a for good character

‘Allahumma ‘inni ‘as-alukas sihhata wal’iffata wal’amaanta wa husnal khuluqhi warridhaa bil Qadar.’

‘Oh Allah, I ask You for health, restraint, trustworthiness, good character and contentment with the decree.’ [Al-Adab Al-Mufrad]

3. Du'a for your family

‘Rabbana hab lana min azwajina wathurriyyatina qurrata a’yunin waj’alna lilmuttaqeena imama.’

“Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous.” [Qur’an: Chapter 25, Verse 74]

4. Du'a for forgiveness

“Our Lord, indeed we have heard a caller calling to faith, [saying], ‘Believe in your Lord,’ and we have believed. Our Lord, so forgive us our sins and remove from us our misdeeds and cause us to die with the righteous.” [Qur’an: Chapter 3, Verse 193]

5. Du’a for guidance

“Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and prepare for us from our affair right guidance.” [Qur’an: Chapter 18, Verse 10]

6. Special du'a for the last 10 nights:

Aisha (ra) “I asked: “O Messenger of Allah! If I realize Laylat-ul-Qadr (Night of Decree), what should I supplicate in it?” He (Saw) replied, “You should supplicate: Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun, tuhibbul-‘afwa, fa’fu ‘anni (O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love forgiveness; so forgive me).” [At-Tirmidhi].

7. Dua for steadfast in faith.

The Messenger of Allaah -sallalahu alayhe wa sallam – used to say a lot:

“O Turner of the hearts, keep my heart firm upon your religion”

So I (Anas) said: O Messenger of Allaah, we have believed in you and believed in everything you have been sent with, so are you afraid for us? He said: “Yes. Indeed the hearts are between two fingers from the fingers of Allaah – He turns them however He wills” [Tirmidhi]

8. Dua for anxiety and sadness.

“O Allah, I take refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, weakness and laziness, miserliness and cowardice, the burden of debts and from being overpowered by men.” [Sahih Al Bukhari]

9. Dua for overcoming difficulty.

“O Allah! There is no ease except that which You make easy, and indeed You, when You want, make grief and difficulties easy.” [Sahih Ibn Hibban #970]

May all these dua’s provide a source of comfort and ease and may they be accepted in the most beautiful ways, ameen.
