Earlier this year, Human Appeal reported a series of allegations concerning financial and governance issues to the Charity Commission. Human Appeal’s trustees immediately suspended the CEO and appointed a leading specialist auditor to conduct an investigation.
The auditor has now completed an extensive report and, on the basis of the evidence presented, we have dismissed the CEO, subject to his right of appeal, and are now implementing the changes in internal processes that were recommended by the independent auditor, to ensure that this never happens again.
Human Appeal remain absolutely determined to resolve all highlighted issues and are currently working with the Charity Commission to clarify some specific points that they have raised.
As we prepare to welcome in the blessed month of Ramadan, Human Appeal will concentrate on the life-changing and life-saving work that we do for the most desperate people across the globe. Whether they are Rohingya refugees fleeing persecution, Syrians besieged whilst destruction rains down upon them, a rough sleeper on the streets of Britain or any of the other most vulnerable people in more than 20 other countries. Last year alone we made a difference to the lives of 4.1 million people and none of that would have been possible without the loyalty of you, the Human Appeal donors.
