Human Appeal is delighted to announce that the Isle of Man government has awarded the organisation a grant of £30,000 to help vulnerable refugees in Lesvos. The grant will be used to provide emergency relief items including food packs and sleeping bags, reaching up to 5,600 vulnerable refugees as they arrive in Lesvos, Greece.
The Human Appeal team in Lesvos will identify families in need and provide them with food packs and sleeping bags. They will also be involved in sourcing and transporting essential supplies for refugees.
Othman Moqbel, Chief Executive of Human Appeal, said: “This is the fourth time since June 2013,that the Isle of Man government has granted us funds for our humanitarian projects in emergency and conflict affected areas across the world. We are delighted that the Isle of Man has recognised the efficiency and quality of the aid that is provided by Human Appeal.”
The work will be enable Human Appeal to continue their life-saving work in Lesvos. The team has already distributed over 10,000 sleeping bags, 8,000 food parcels and 2,000 hygiene kits to refugees in Europe. We are also running three medical facilities for refugees in Lesvos, where our doctors have treated over 1,500 people.
