The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, “The believers are like one body in their mutual love and affection: if one limb is injured, the rest responds with sleeplessness and fever.” (Hadith Muslim)
As aftershocks continue to devastate rescue missions in the villages of the Atlas Mountains. Mountains have been split, toppling onto homes, entire villages have been crumpled, bodies still under the rubble.
Over 3,000 people have been killed and over 5,600 were injured in the devastating earthquake that struck on Friday 8th September.
We’re providing three different emergency kits, and will be distributing them based on need. Each one costs $100, and they provide:
Emergency food kit Over 10 kilograms of food, including milk powder, cheese, tuna, dates, sugar, tea, and olive oil, as well as 10 litres of water.
Emergency hygiene kit 5 packets of baby milk, 4 packets of nappies, baby wipes, 3 packets of menstrual products, 2 kilograms of laundry powder, 2 kilograms of soap, bleach and disinfectant
Emergency shelter Two warm blankets and two mattresses
Donate $100 and help us to bring food, hygiene supplies, and shelter items to families who lost their homes in the earthquake.
Families can’t return to any sense of normal, and some villages are still cut off. Your donations have helped us to reach 500 people so far with essential food, baby milk, water, blankets, mattresses, and hygiene items such as nappies soap, and female hygiene products.
Working with a local Moroccan partner of six years, our own staff is in the Atlas Mountains now, delivering your aid. We’re one of the few charities granted permission to be working here, and our staff are ready and waiting for your donations.
The most powerful earthquake in over a century
With each aftershock, the recovery effort is hit, and families in Marrakech spill into the streets in case of further damage to buildings. Anxiety is high and Moroccan families urgently need your support.
The location and scale of the earthquake – in a mountainous region filled with simple stone houses has had a devastating outcome. Earthquakes are rare here and houses aren’t built to withstand them. Now, entire communities are struggling to survive. Mountain roads, once the lifelines of these regions, are now strewn with rocks and debris, delaying the access of rescue services.
