Allah, in His wisdom gifted us with the beautiful month of Dhul Hijjah, whose first ten days are more blessed than any other day of the year. The first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah are second chance and a spiritual boost for all of us who miss the community, spirit, and blessings of Ramadan.
Dhul Hijjah hosts Hajj, Eid al-Adha, and the Day of Arafah, on which Allah saves more people from hellfire than any other day in the year.
Just like the last 10 days of Ramadan, the first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah are a chance to seek Allah’s forgiveness, to expiate our sins, and to seek closeness to Allah through good deeds.
During Dhul Hijjah, those of us who are able to also sacrifice an animal just as the prophet Ibrahim (AS) did, offering a Qurbani to vulnerable families. It’s an act of devotion to Allah and a gift of community to those in the ummah who can’t afford to eat meat at other times in the year.
Relieving hunger
Human Appeal works all year round to relieve hunger, malnutrition, and its causes, by helping people to have sustainable access to livelihoods and education.
During Dhul Hijjah, we’re at the forefront of delivering nutritious Qurbani meat to some of the worlds more vulnerable families in hard-to-reach places, such as those hit by drought, malnutrition, or conflict. Right now, our teams across 16 countries are preparing to deliver your Qurbani on the days of Eid, including in Gaza, Sudan, Somalia, Afghanistan, Syria, and Yemen.
Last year, despite the hardship and growing food prices that many of us encountered here at home, you provided a staggering 600,467 people with fresh, nutritious meat.
If you donated your Qurbani with Human Appeal last year, you provided an average of 55 meat-based meals, or 17.7 kilograms split between four families. For many, it was their only chance in the year to eat met.
Despite rising costs, we know times are tough, so we’ve committed to maintaining the cost of our most affordable option, without raising any prices to reflect our growing costs. It costs just $37 to perform your Qurbani in India, but the number of animals available is limited so donate early to ensure we assign your sacrifice in advance.
We’ve not changed the cost, or the quality. It’s still our same fresh, nutritious Qurbani from well cared-for animals, which we deliver to the most vulnerable communities.
Give your Qurbani now, and reap the blessings of performing your sacrifice in the best ten days of the year, bringing happiness and joy to the Ummah this Eid.
A blessed time for Zakat and Sadaqah too
Give Zakat or sadaqah in Dhul Hijjah and maximise your rewards this Dhul Hijjah. It’s the best time of the year to give. Support our long-term projects and you could provide an entire community with water for years to come, or provide a drought-hit farmer in Yemen with a livelihood through coffee trees, or support a child enduring unimaginable violence in Sudan or Gaza.
Allah loves good deeds in these ten days more than any other time of the year. Give in this blessed month, and offer hope, happiness, blessings, and togetherness, for those you help, and for yourself.
Give to Human Appeal and reap the rewards of the best ten days of the year.
