Long-term hunger solutions in Sudan

In 2021, after years of political instability, flooding, and the pandemic, hunger levels in Sudan rose by 65%, leaving 9.6 million people hungry and unsure where their next meal is coming from. 1 in 3 children in Sudan are stunted as a result of a lack of undernourishment.
Help Sudanese families struggling with hunger. With your help, we want to provide families with food parcels to address their immediate hunger, while also empowering them with livelihood support so that they can rear livestock and grow food, helping them to be food secure for years to come. Families will be able to sell surplus produce to help generate an income, further improving their quality of life.
Short-term and long-term solutions
For the next 10 months, we’ll be supporting 250 families – that’s 1,500 people – with nutritious monthly food parcels, relieving the burden of finding food. We’ll also be providing them with training, tools, and resources so that they can rear livestock and harvest food, both of which will help them to eat well, and provide a livelihood.
We’ll continue to assess the food that they’re able to provide for themselves, and adjust the monthly food parcels accordingly, until they’re no longer needed.
With a focus on the most vulnerable families, women will make up at least 50 per cent of our targeted farmers, who will receive training.
