Fighting period poverty for orphan girls

$80 – provide one orphaned girl with two pairs of washable, reusable period pants, six boxes of biodegradable sanitary towels, and six bars of soap.
There are as many as 630,000 orphaned children in Somalia. Many are forced to work just to survive. It can be even harder for orphaned girls, who face the added difficulty of social gender restrictions, such as complications accessing education.
With your help, we want to help 400 orphaned girls at Bondhero girls’ orphanage in Somalia to continue to access their education, and to practice healthy hygiene by providing them with hygiene kits containing biodegradable sanitary towels, washable period underwear, and soap, as well as providing them with hygiene training.
Supporting girls’ education
You can help spread mercy to orphaned girls in Mogadishu, Somalia who have already endured incredible hardship by providing training and hygiene kits, helping them to stay in school.
Because so many girls lack menstrual items, they stay home from school during their periods, which often leads to them completely dropping out of school.
When you provide an orphaned girl with a hygiene kit, you’ll be supplying them with three months’ worth of biodegradable sanitary towels, two pairs of reusable period underwear, and six bars of soap, helping them to hygienically manage their menstrual cycles.
We’ll also help them to protect their health and rights by providing them with training workshops on hygiene, sanitation, child rights, and gender-based violence.
